The Unternehmensgruppe Schmitt

With more than 50 years of experience in the field of distillation technology, we are one of the world’s leading manufacturers of energy-efficient distillation plants.

With distillation plants designed, constructed and produced by our company, it is possible to produce industrial alcohol, potable alcohol and bioethanol according to the highest quality standards, according to the Russian GOST standard and better. On a production area of 3,300 m², our highly qualified specialists produce ready-to-operate complete solutions in the field of distillery technology. For this purpose, we use the latest technologies, e.g. in the fields of welding, sheet metal processing and production of laser parts. Our customers demand from us complete plants as well as individual parts and components, such as steam columns, mash tanks, heat exchangers and water supply systems.

OUR HISTORY

The origin of the Unternehmensgruppe Schmitt lies in the mid-19th century, when M. S. founded his own blacksmith’s shop before 1870.

From 1897 onwards, his son R. S. continued the business as a master blacksmith, and from 1933 onwards, grandson E. S. offered not only blacksmith’s work but also work in carriage construction.

In 1952 the company produced distillery components and steam boilers for the first time. In 1976 his son, Dipl.-Ing. (qualified engineer) R. S., took over the reins and is now the fourth generation running the family business.

Establishment of a blacksmith business by Michael Schmitt.
1900
Son Rudolf is trained as a master blacksmith and takes over the family business. From 1933 onwards, grandson Eugen extends the range of services beyond farriery to include work in carriage construction.
1952
Under Eugen Schmitt, the company produces steam boilers and distillery components for the first time.
1977
Eugen’s son, Dipl.-Ing. Reiner Schmitt is the fourth generation to take over the management of the family business.

2006

The company specialises in advanced plants, which in particular meet major technical challenges. The consistent objective is to achieve the highest quality standard for plants and products.
2020
The individual companies are merged to form the Unternehmensgruppe Schmitt.

WHY US?

A strong environmental awareness is evident in our production of biogas and sanitisation systems, which are equipped with electrical engineering developed by us.

Here, our many years of expertise in the field of burner technology is demonstrated.

Since April 2012 industrial ethanol, electric power, natural gas, heat and fertilizer have been sustainably produced from food waste on the company’s own premises.
